We are working in Athamallick block of Anguldistrict and Riamala block of Deogarh District in Odisha state of India. Out of several problems and issues of the area the problems ofchild labor is very acute who are neglected in all respect likehealth, education, poverty etc. The children in the age group of 6to 14 years are found engaged in Bidi binding ( Tobacco work), Cow &goat grazing, collection of forest produces, in hotels and so many similar other activities. The health status of these children isdeteriorating day by day which leads illiteracy and poverty. Thoughmeasures have been taken by the Govt. for the eradication of childlabours, but they remain in the pen and paper only. The literacy rate in the block is 61% out of which male literacy is54% & female literacy is 38%as against the state avg. of 49%.
