Introduction:-
I.
The organization is working in the area for the past 15 years. The region is reeling under severe drought condition for the past six years hampering agro-economy and allied activities. The main livelihood for farming community is from agriculture and allied activities. The drought situation has created devastating impact on the region and compelling the farmers to migrate to other areas in search of wage labor. The farmers and agricultural laborers do not know or be trained in any trade or skills to cope up with the prevalent situation; and in this critical situation, they could not support their disadvantaged families. After studying the crisis ridden life situation of rural poor, the organization has taken measures to explore funding possibilities to support the families to set up their own income generation units by making them accessible to vocational/skill oriented trades with assistance of funding agencies. So that the organization can impart life skills education to potential youths of the rural poor families to get sustainable income which would create food security for the impoverished for a vibrant, adaptive community.
Over all Aim:-
1. TO provide basic education and promote community development, guided by the principles of responsibility, towards achieving our avowed goal of promoting physical, psychological and socio-economic development of societies.
2. To achieve the integral tribal’s/SC/ST and marginal communities through providing income generation facility, Education and improve their social and financial status in the society.
3. For organization health camp and to construct a hospital complex.
4. To provide proper road facility to these projected rural area.
5. To organize the concept of roof water harvesting structures and soak pits among the people in order to conserve grounds water ecosystem.
6. To improve sanitation facilities for people through construction of latrines and drainage construction and electrical installation. Reclamation/waste land development.
Major Objectives.
1. To create a people’s movement in the target area together with the others.
2. NGO’s and oppressed and marginalized sections of people to create a harmonious society where in people can enjoy all sorts of dignity based on human values.
3. To work for the freedom of oppressed socially and economically.
4. To train and educate the rural youth for the social change of the community.
5. To help the youth and students through informal means of education to create in them a social and national awareness.
6. To render money to the remote village people for their hospital expenses and to take care of their medical expenses.
7. To advocate and sensitive the younger generation and society and create a social awareness about the problem of elderly people.
8. To provide basic services in the area of health care, recreation, nutrition and income generation.
9. To help and educate orphans children and old aged people in need and distress and to establish places to meet and development natural love amongst children with a view to nourish personality and the spirit of co-operation.
10. To provide the basic needs of the inmates like food, dresses and shelter at free of cost.
11. To educate and upliftment of the orphans to an able path freely struggle on the values.
12. Rehabilitation of the children by partnering them in their daily struggle to grow off the situation in to the socially contributing and sacrificing independent people.
13. To build up a powerful movement capable of challenging those situations that leave the orphans and old aged abandoned on their way.
14. To organize and manage centre for the physically, socially handicapped and mettally retarded in the community, by way of the establishing Hall-way homes, Day care centre’s vocational training centre’s etc.
Purpose
The purpose of the Education grants program is to enhance the quality of, and access to, education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Goals
• Support the development and implementation of educational initiatives that: Contribute to excellence in teaching and learning; foster student citizenship and volunteerism; and strengthen school communities through the participation of students, parents, educators, and the community
• Improve educational access and program completion rates for all students, particularly for those facing economic or cultural barriers or with special needs.
• The principal objective of the programme is to promote open and democratic societies founded on the rule of law and based on a stable political and economic development. In order to learn from the experiences of the Neighbourhood Programme, it has been decided to carry out an independent evaluation. While activities within the programme fall within four different focus areas, the objective of this evaluation is to assess and document the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the support given within the specific area of ‘Economic Development’, both at the level of the priority area as a whole and the individual projects.
• The evaluation is a learning-focused evaluation, which will serve as an input into the ongoing discussions within the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on how best to promote private sector driven economic growth and employment. It should therefore distil key lessons learned regarding the strategies, approaches and methods used in the Neighborhood Programme.
• Encourage learners to develop healthy self-esteem including a respectful appreciation of their own and others’ individual, ethnic and cultural identity
• Advance educational approaches and facilitate access to enhanced literacy for all age groups Disseminate successful program models, and promote innovation in a specific area of learning
• Contribute to the professional growth of educators and the advancement of innovative approaches to learning
• Demonstrate collaborative planning, competent financial management and appropriate use of community resources
Environment
Commencement of evening classes:-
The organization after studying literate rate in the villages, had taken steps to improve literacy rate in the project area. The literacy rate is far below the state average in the area due to socio-economic reasons.
Free Residential school:-
The socio-Economic survey revealed that 55 children in the age group of 6-12 could not attend the government school, as their families economic status is very vulnerable and could not support their children’s day-to-day basic needs. The organization made arrangements for their rehabilitation by making them access to clothing; nutritious food, health, and education. The organization started a Residential school for these children. Two teachers, wardens and 2 Cooks have been appointed to look after the children’s day-to-day need.
community Health Activities:-
The organization had appointed a graduate nurse to train women Para medical workers cum birth attendants in the villages. 20 Para medical workers cum birth attendants have been trained in Para medical practice to conduct safe deliverers in the villages. The trained paramedical workers are from villages of the project area. After training, they have been supplied with most needed medicines, first aid kit, and other instruments to conduct safe deliveries. The main activities of the Para medical workers in the villages are as follows:
? Conducting safe deliveries.
? Providing first aid treatment to injured, snakebite cases.
? Dispensation of simple medicines for minor ailments.
? To take care of ante-natal, post-natal, peri-natal and neo-natal cases.
? Ensuring of immunization of children
? Creation of awareness with regard to personal hygiene, nutrition, oral Rehydration therapy (ORT)
The staff nurse visits the village to supervise over the activities of village level paramedical workers on regular intervals.
formation of women’s association:-
20 literate and articulate women have been selected from twenty villages of the project area. The organization conducted a 20 days orientation training course on rural women’s issues, and various problems they are facing and need for formation of women’s associations for the over all socio-economic development of their families. All the trained women are working as volunteers to constitute 20 women associations in twenty villages of the project area. Regular interaction between women and volunteers is going on in the villages. At present they are formulating the aims and objectives of the women’s associations.
The main focus would be on:
? To formulate 20 women’s associations in 20 villages with clear aims and objectives to be achieved.
? Formation of self-helf groups of women in twenty villages.
? Promotion of credit and thrift management units.
? Promotion of vocational trainings for women to earn at their house holds itself.
? Development and management of natural resources for sustainable agricultural production and allied activities.
? Formation of village level health clubs to prevent communicable diseases and epidemics.
? Protection of childhood rights and eradication of gender disparities and discrimination.
Promotion of women’s partnership and participation in decision making planning and implementation of developmental activities.
Area of Interest: Aboriginal Education
• Priority will be given to proposals that show innovation, a questioning of the status quo, capacity to transform Aboriginal education, and are targeted to expanding the number, knowledge and skill of Aboriginal educators.
• It is expected that the initiatives will integrate Aboriginal knowledge systems; ensure meaningful involvement and decision-making of Aboriginal community, Elders, parents, educators and learners; and build capacity through collaboration, connection and partnerships that are sustainable.
• Educational organizations with a demonstrated commitment and capacity for success in Aboriginal education, particularly in communities or regions with high numbers of Aboriginal students, will be given particular consideration.
5. Experience:
i. About the Educational Society.
The Bright Education Society (BES) registered as non-profitable voluntary organization was started in the year 1998 by its founder member cum project director Mr. M.Ezhil Maran at Chickballapur, Chickballapur district, Karnataka state, India.
It’s main objective was to educate the rural poor and organize them for constructive development with the capacity to address every issue in all parameters on their collective approach, with this being the goal the society has ventured in many welfare and development activities for the past 15 years and over the period of years it has been possible to help these rural poor to a certain extent.
Different programs undertaken are as follow:
? Non-formal education in 15 villages.
? Formation of self help groups of women in 20 villages.
? Free residential school for 54 SC and ST children belonging to poorest of poor families.
? Free supply of education material to 250 children belonging to rural poor families.
? Conducting of Health check-up camps in the villages and dispensation of free medicines to needy patients.
? Computer training to rural youth in order to promote self-employment activities or to get jobs.
ii. Experience in development work in general:
? In the field of children’s education, community health promotion activities such as preventive and curative aspects, formation of women’s associations, mother and child care, mobilization of rural poor on issues, training to staff, member of village associations, awareness creation on environment, non-conventional energy, human and natural resource development HIVAIDS, small family norms and protection of child hood rights.
? The organization gained experience in the implementation of various people oriented activities.
iii. Geographical profile:
Chickballapur Taluk of Chickballapur district is situated in an arid region.
The net area sown in the region varies heavily due to erratic and undeterminable rainfall that always varies. This results in the dry land cultivators being unable to predict rains properly and the sown loosing its germination capacity. The temperature in the taluk varies from a maximum of 38 degrees to a minimum 18 degrees Celsius. Since the taluk is approximately elevated meters above mean sea level.
iv. Socio-economic and living conditions:
He economic condition of the rural poor in the taluk is such that they are in a position to support their basic needs of their families; the average income of agriculture labour is Rs. 30-40/- per day. The agriculture labour/poor peasants get employment about 150 to 180 days in a year. In a family of five members, the per capita income of a person per day is Rs. 7.90ps. The very basis for illiteracy ignorance, low scholastic level, malnourishment, low birth weight infant mortality, and high mortality rate of adults of rural poor is this economics.
6. Major characteristics of the project area:
The area is one of the drought prone in the district; the level of ground water is too low and depleting. The forest cover of the area has been destroyed that it could be said that there is no forest.
The main source of income for rural poor is from agriculture and quarry work. The people in the area are so poor that they cannot be considered as consumers. The women are worst sufferers since they have to maintain the household and feed inmates. The people want to get out of the situation but they are short of ideas and resources.
8. Project Beneficiaries:
The project beneficiaries one comprising of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and economically weaker sections of the society.
9. Project goals:
The overall goals of the project is to develop human and natural resources, safeguard childhood rights, promote women’s participation in decision making regarding self-employment, reproductive health and rights and to promote skills and knowledge through community organization at grass-roots.

Awareness programs:-
a. Human and Natural Resources Development and management:-
The organization had taken necessary education measures to protect natural resources, Which are diminishing at an alarming rate.
The rural economic such as denudation of forests cover. Extinction of flora, fauna and bio-mass, depletion of ground water, top soil erosion, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, encroachment into grazing lands, and exploitation of sand deposits in the rivers. The above situation has severely hampered agro-economy and allied activities resulting in frequent drought condition. The majority population in rural areas depends on agricultures and allied activities. Now the farmers and rural labor families are facing unemployment. Resulting in insecurity.
Bearing in mind the above crisis, the organization has taken steps to create greater awareness among the rural inhabitants to protect and develop their natural resources by taking remedial measures such as rain water conservation in the dried up wells, diversion of rain water to desilted farm ponds, plugging of gullies to control top soil erosion by putting contour bounding all across the slopes.
a. HIV/AIDS Awareness program:-
It has come to light that some people have been suffering from genital infections and other symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. When ever the staff nurses visits the villages the paramedical workers have been reporting to the nurse that some patients are suffering from suspected symptoms STDs.
The patients suspected of having infection of STDs. Have been sent to hospital laboratories to get their blood tested. The reports revealed that 56 patients, and skin diseases.
It has been suspected that some of vulnerable section in the villages may be having HIV/AIDS and SIT infection. The patients with symptoms of STDs would not reveal their sickness bearing ostracization from the members of their family and village community. The patients with STD infection have been supported with medical expenses to get complete cure.
The organization, keeping in the view prevalent situation of vulnerability to STDs and HIV/AIDS, planned to organize STD, HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages. The para medical workers have been trained in HIV/AIDS awareness to educate the rural population with regard to spread of HIV?AIDS epidemic through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, use of sterilized needles, blades etc., the para medical workers along with the staff nurse have had organized 20 HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages in order to educate the people not to have sex with strangers, to avoid unsafe sex and to use condoms and to take preventive measures to control and combat the further spread of HIV/AIDS epidemic.
b. Awareness Camps on water and Air borne diseases:
Polluted environmental sanitation and unhygienic surroundings of sources of drinking water bore wells in the villages are causing health hazards among the people. 15 to 28% percent of each villages population would suffer from water borne infections such as hepatitis-A, typhoid, diarrhea, respiratory tract infection and other skin diseases.
Series of meeting have been conducted in the village to educate the people to get rid of water borne infections. After long course of interaction with the people, under the leadership of community of leaders, volunteers took up the responsibility to cleanse the heaps of decomposing garbage, repair of drinking water bore well plot forms, and diversion of stagnated water to drainage. The villagers unanimously resolved to keep clean their surroundings of households and protect drinking water from contamination.
c. Environment Awareness Programs:-
Environment awareness program had taken place when the water and air borne diseases were tackled in the project area. It was decided that each family should raise at least two trees in front of their households and raise kitchen garden by reusing the wastewater disposed out of households. Avenue tree plantation program was initiated during rainy season of July 2004. The villagers planted 2678 plants on either side of approach roads leading to the main roads.

BRIGHT EDUCATIONAL SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY has been functioning altogether empowerment of depressed and disadvantaged group of communities in Karnataka, it has a separate legal entity.
We are undertaking the following services and it is detailed below:
1. FACE INDIA-Federation of Association for Community Empowerment India.
It is a NGO’s network for strengthening the civil societies in india. This national civil society has been functioning for 3 years having its head office at Bright Education and social services society.
2. DEVA-A home for orphan & semi-orphan children.
Selecting the orphan children. Collecting the street children. Providing them food and shelter. Formation of children club in school. Providing them educational facilities. Sending children to regular schools.

Muslims, dalit minorities etc.. was formed in Annual meeting ofthis committee has been conducted once in a year to disc 1998. Uss and planned the activities against the minorities and human rights. The minorities community of india to day is facing innumerable difficulties.
4. Khadam-(Karnataka Association for dalit Action Movement)
It is a network organization of 27 NGO’s functioning in five districts in Karnataka. All the NGO heads of 27 NGOs are the general body of Khadam. They elect five member governing body for the smooth running of network organization. Every three year the office bearers of the governing body members are keep on changing in order to enable to grow leadership qualities among all the members.
Khadam members meet once a year to plan strategies and programmes for empowerment of dalits in their area.
5. VWF-(Vidivelli women federations)
It is a network of 120 dalit women grass root organization functioning in karnataka district. It is governed by 22 members who are democratically elected by the members of the individual by organizations. They meet once in a quarter to discuss and plan their programmes. Some of the noteworthy efforts taken by vidvelli working women federations are as follows. On the demand of vidivelli working women federations women are admitted as members in parents teachers association in the rural schools. Road blocked strike. Dharma. Agitation rally etc. were planned and executed by the vidivelli working women federations for obtaining house titles from railway department and obtaining place for construction of school in villages.
6. MEE-India. (Movement of Eunchs empowerment india)
In 2000 Bright Educational and social services society. Started this movement. The eunuchs are scattered all over india. In order to enable them fight against injustices. Inequalities. Segregations etc.. meted out by the rest of the society. MEE India was formed for eunuchs. The nation wide higher-level committee is a general body in which 15 eunuchs from all over india are the members.
The general body members meet once in a year. Apart from this state and district level bodies once in a quarter at their levels to/strengthen their solidarity and to plan activities.
7. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT SECTOR (Videville Women Fund)
Some of the important activities of Econiomic Empowerment Sector are as follows:
Savings and Credit scheme.
Loan for small businesses.
Entrepreneurship development.
Cooperative Economic ventures.
Skills oriented training programme.
Help and educate the people to elevate proverty.
Help the women to stand on their own legs.
Help them to increase their social status in the society.
Income generation programmes. Activities will be implemented.
Help the people to get mass media support.
8. HMS-Health and Medical Centre.
Selection of right type of candidate for foot doctors.
Training the rural people to become bare foot doctors.
Providing medical services to the people in the remote villages.
Conducting medical camps.
Referring the patients to Government head quarters hospital/Health education to school students rural mass and general public. Education on TB, Malaria are included so they can prevent them to the people.
HIV/AIDS awareness education, care and support to the people.

10. Welfare for the Destitute.
As a development organization mainly undertakes programs of welfare for the helpless and the destitute. Considering the reality of pathetic life struggles, BESSS has undertaken the following welfare and charitable works.
11. Gender Equality Programmes.
The project officer of bright education and social services society, is one of the core resource persons in gender sensitization program implemented to the police personnel in Karnataka districts. The general of police of Karnataka, for his outstanding contributions.
The project coordinator has contributed much in gender sensitization program to the police personnel in Karnataka district. He has taken 60 classes of 1 hour in 30 batches. He has so far conducted 90 cases of 90 hours for 30 batches of training consistent of an average of 50 personnel each.
• BES Conducts one day intensive training program on gender equality to women council representatives in BES Training center. So for, 80 women council representatives have participated in the program.
• BES conducts training for elected dalit leaders of local bodies in BES training centers in various units. So for, 1250 leaders of both gender have participated in the program.
• BES conducts regular gender training to NGO leaders in the BES training center. Totally 28 NGO leaders have participated in the program.
• BES conducts regular training programs to NGO field staff in the BES training center. So for, 50 staff of 28 NGOs were trained.

The organization is working in the area for the past 15 years. The region is reeling under severe drought condition for the past six years hampering agro-economy and allied activities. The main livelihood for farming community is from agriculture and allied activities. The drought situation has created devastating impact on the region and compelling the farmers to migrate to other areas in search of wage labor. The farmers and agricultural laborers do not know or be trained in any trade or skills to cope up with the prevalent situation; and in this critical situation, they could not support their disadvantaged families. After studying the crisis ridden life situation of rural poor, the organization has taken measures to explore funding possibilities to support the families to set up their own income generation units by making them accessible to vocational/skill oriented trades with assistance of funding agencies. So that the organization can impart life skills education to potential youths of the rural poor families to get sustainable income which would create food security for the impoverished for a vibrant, adaptive community.
Over all Aim:-

• The principal objective of the programme is to promote open and democratic societies founded on the rule of law and based on a stable political and economic development. In order to learn from the experiences of the Neighbourhood Programme, it has been decided to carry out an independent evaluation. While activities within the programme fall within four different focus areas, the objective of this evaluation is to assess and document the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the support given within the specific area of ‘Economic Development’, both at the level of the priority area as a whole and the individual projects.
• The evaluation is a learning-focused evaluation, which will serve as an input into the ongoing discussions within the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on how best to promote private sector driven economic growth and employment. Environment
Commencement of evening classes:-
The organization after studying literate rate in the villages, had taken steps to improve literacy rate in the project area. The literacy rate is far below the state average in the area due to socio-economic reasons.
Free Residential school:-
The socio-Economic survey revealed that 55 children in the age group of 6-12 could not attend the government school, as their families economic status is very vulnerable and could not support their children’s day-to-day basic needs. The organization made arrangements for their rehabilitation by making them access to clothing; nutritious food, health, and education. The organization started a Residential school for these children. Two teachers, wardens and 2 Cooks have been appointed to look after the children’s day-to-day need.
community Health Activities:-
The organization had appointed a graduate nurse to train women Para medical workers cum birth attendants in the villages. 20 Para medical workers cum birth attendants have been trained in Para medical practice to conduct safe deliverers in the villages. The trained paramedical workers are from villages of the project area. After training, they have been supplied with most needed medicines, first aid kit, and other instruments to conduct safe deliveries. The main activities of the Para medical workers in the villages are as follows:
? Conducting safe deliveries.
? Providing first aid treatment to injured, snakebite cases.
? Dispensation of simple medicines for minor ailments.
? To take care of ante-natal, post-natal, peri-natal and neo-natal cases.
? Ensuring of immunization of children
? Creation of awareness with regard to personal hygiene, nutrition, oral Rehydration therapy (ORT)
The staff nurse visits the village to supervise over the activities of village level paramedical workers on regular intervals.
formation of women’s association:-
20 literate and articulate women have been selected from twenty villages of the project area. The organization conducted a 20 days orientation training course on rural women’s issues, and various problems they are facing and need for formation of women’s associations for the over all socio-economic development of their families. All the trained women are working as volunteers to constitute 20 women associations in twenty villages of the project area. Regular interaction between women and volunteers is going on in the villages. At present they are formulating the aims and objectives of the women’s associations.
The main focus would be on:
? To formulate 20 women’s associations in 20 villages with clear aims and objectives to be achieved.
? Formation of self-helf groups of women in twenty villages.
? Promotion of credit and thrift management units.
? Promotion of vocational trainings for women to earn at their house holds itself.

? Formation of village level health clubs to prevent communicable diseases and epidemics.

5. Experience:
i. About the Educational Society.
The Bright Education Society (BES) registered as non-profitable voluntary organization was started in the year 1998 by its founder member cum project director Mr. M.Ezhil Maran at Chickballapur, Chickballapur district, Karnataka state, India.
It’s main objective was to educate the rural poor and organize them for constructive development with the capacity to address every issue in all parameters on their collective approach, with this being the goal the society has ventured in many welfare and development activities for the past 15 years and over the period of years it has been possible to help these rural poor to a certain extent.
Different programs undertaken are as follow:
? Non-formal education in 15 villages.
? Formation of self help groups of women in 20 villages.
? Free residential school for 54 SC and ST children belonging to poorest of poor families.
? Free supply of education material to 250 children belonging to rural poor families.
? Conducting of Health check-up camps in the villages and dispensation of free medicines to needy patients.
? Computer training to rural youth in order to promote self-employment activities or to get jobs.
ii. Experience in development work in general:
? In the field of children’s education, community health promotion activities such as preventive and curative aspects, formation of women’s associations, mother and child care, mobilization of rural poor on issues, training to staff, member of village associations, awareness creation on environment, non-conventional energy, human and natural resource development HIVAIDS, small family norms and protection of child hood rights.
? The organization gained experience in the implementation of various people oriented activities.
iii. Geographical profile:
Chickballapur Taluk of Chickballapur district is situated in an arid region.
The net area sown in the region varies heavily due to erratic and undeterminable rainfall that always varies. This results in the dry land cultivators being unable to predict rains properly and the sown loosing its germination capacity. The temperature in the taluk varies from a maximum of 38 degrees to a minimum 18 degrees Celsius. Since the taluk is approximately elevated meters above mean sea level.
iv. Socio-economic and living conditions:
He economic condition of the rural poor in the taluk is such that they are in a position to support their basic needs of their families; the average income of agriculture labour is Rs. 30-40/- per day. The agriculture labour/poor peasants get employment about 150 to 180 days in a year. In a family of five members, the per capita income of a person per day is Rs. 7.90ps. The very basis for illiteracy ignorance, low scholastic level, malnourishment, low birth weight infant mortality, and high mortality rate of adults of rural poor is this economics.
6. Major characteristics of the project area:
The area is one of the drought prone in the district; the level of ground water is too low and depleting. The forest cover of the area has been destroyed that it could be said that there is no forest.
The main source of income for rural poor is from agriculture and quarry work. The people in the area are so poor that they cannot be considered as consumers. The women are worst sufferers since they have to maintain the household and feed inmates. The people want to get out of the situation but they are short of ideas and resources.
8. Project Beneficiaries:
The project beneficiaries one comprising of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and economically weaker sections of the society.
9. Project goals:
The overall goals of the project is to develop human and natural resources, safeguard childhood rights, promote women’s participation in decision making regarding self-employment, reproductive health and rights and to promote skills and knowledge through community organization at grass-roots.

Awareness programs:-
a. Human and Natural Resources Development and management:-
The organization had taken necessary education measures to protect natural resources, Which are diminishing at an alarming rate.
The rural economic such as denudation of forests cover. Extinction of flora, fauna and bio-mass, depletion of ground water, top soil erosion, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, encroachment into grazing lands, and exploitation of sand deposits in the rivers. The above situation has severely hampered agro-economy and allied activities resulting in frequent drought condition. The majority population in rural areas depends on agricultures and allied activities. Now the farmers and rural labor families are facing unemployment. Resulting in insecurity.
Bearing in mind the above crisis, the organization has taken steps to create greater awareness among the rural inhabitants to protect and develop their natural resources by taking remedial measures such as rain water conservation in the dried up wells, diversion of rain water to desilted farm ponds, plugging of gullies to control top soil erosion by putting contour bounding all across the slopes.
a. HIV/AIDS Awareness program:-
It has come to light that some people have been suffering from genital infections and other symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. When ever the staff nurses visits the villages the paramedical workers have been reporting to the nurse that some patients are suffering from suspected symptoms STDs.
The patients suspected of having infection of STDs. Have been sent to hospital laboratories to get their blood tested. The reports revealed that 56 patients, and skin diseases.
It has been suspected that some of vulnerable section in the villages may be having HIV/AIDS and SIT infection. The patients with symptoms of STDs would not reveal their sickness bearing ostracization from the members of their family and village community. The patients with STD infection have been supported with medical expenses to get complete cure.
The organization, keeping in the view prevalent situation of vulnerability to STDs and HIV/AIDS, planned to organize STD, HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages. The para medical workers have been trained in HIV/AIDS awareness to educate the rural population with regard to spread of HIV?AIDS epidemic through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, use of sterilized needles, blades etc., the para medical workers along with the staff nurse have had organized 20 HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages in order to educate the people not to have sex with strangers, to avoid unsafe sex and to use condoms and to take preventive measures to control and combat the further spread of HIV/AIDS epidemic.
b. Awareness Camps on water and Air borne diseases:
Polluted environmental sanitation and unhygienic surroundings of sources of drinking water bore wells in the villages are causing health hazards among the people. 15 to 28% percent of each villages population would suffer from water borne infections such as hepatitis-A, typhoid, diarrhea, respiratory tract infection and other skin diseases.
Series of meeting have been conducted in the village to educate the people to get rid of water borne infections. After long course of interaction with the people, under the leadership of community of leaders, volunteers took up the responsibility to cleanse the heaps of decomposing garbage, repair of drinking water bore well plot forms, and diversion of stagnated water to drainage. The villagers unanimously resolved to keep clean their surroundings of households and protect drinking water from contamination.
c. Environment Awareness Programs:-
Environment awareness program had taken place when the water and air borne diseases were tackled in the project area. It was decided that each family should raise at least two trees in front of their households and raise kitchen garden by reusing the wastewater disposed out of households. Avenue tree plantation program was initiated during rainy season of July 2004. The villagers planted 2678 plants on either side of approach roads leading to the main roads.

4. Khadam-(Karnataka Association for dalit Action Movement)
It is a network organization of 27 NGO’s functioning in five districts in Karnataka. All the NGO heads of 27 NGOs are the general body of Khadam. They elect five member governing body for the smooth running of network organization. Every three year the office bearers of the governing body members are keep on changing in order to enable to grow leadership qualities among all the members.
Khadam members meet once a year to plan strategies and programmes for empowerment of dalits in their area.
5. VWF-(Vidivelli women federations)
It is a network of 120 dalit women grass root organization functioning in karnataka district. It is governed by 22 members who are democratically elected by the members of the individual by organizations. They meet once in a quarter to discuss and plan their programmes. Some of the noteworthy efforts taken by vidvelli working women federations are as follows. On the demand of vidivelli working women federations women are admitted as members in parents teachers association in the rural schools. Road blocked strike. Dharma. Agitation rally etc. were planned and executed by the vidivelli working women federations for obtaining house titles from railway department and obtaining place for construction of school in villages.
6. MEE-India. (Movement of Eunchs empowerment india)
In 2000 Bright Educational and social services society. Started this movement. The eunuchs are scattered all over india. In order to enable them fight against injustices. Inequalities. Segregations etc.. meted out by the rest of the society. MEE India was formed for eunuchs. The nation wide higher-level committee is a general body in which 15 eunuchs from all over india are the members.
The general body members meet once in a year. Apart from this state and district level bodies once in a quarter at their levels to/strengthen their solidarity and to plan activities.

The project officer of bright education and social services society, is one of the core resource persons in gender sensitization program implemented to the police personnel in Karnataka districts. The general of police of Karnataka, for his outstanding contributions.
The project coordinator has contributed much in gender sensitization program to the police personnel in Karnataka district. He has taken 60 classes of 1 hour in 30 batches. He has so far conducted 90 cases of 90 hours for 30 batches of training consistent of an average of 50 personnel each.
• BES Conducts one day intensive training program on gender equality to women council representatives in BES Training center. So for, 80 women council representatives have participated in the program.
• BES conducts training for elected dalit leaders of local bodies in BES training centers in various units. So for, 1250 leaders of both gender have participated in the program.
• BES conducts regular gender training to NGO leaders in the BES training center. Totally 28 NGO leaders have participated in the program.
• BES conducts regular training programs to NGO field staff in the BES training center. So for, 50 staff of 28 NGOs were trained.

• The principal objective of the programme is to promote open and democratic societies founded on the rule of law and based on a stable political and economic development. In order to learn from the experiences of the Neighbourhood Programme, it has been decided to carry out an independent evaluation. While activities within the programme fall within four different focus areas, the objective of this evaluation is to assess and document the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the support given within the specific area of ‘Economic Development’, both at the level of the priority area as a whole and the individual projects.
• The evaluation is a learning-focused evaluation, which will serve as an input into the ongoing discussions within the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on how best to promote private sector driven economic growth and employment. Environment
Commencement of evening classes:-
The organization after studying literate rate in the villages, had taken steps to improve literacy rate in the project area. The literacy rate is far below the state average in the area due to socio-economic reasons.
Free Residential school:-
The socio-Economic survey revealed that 55 children in the age group of 6-12 could not attend the government school, as their families economic status is very vulnerable and could not support their children’s day-to-day basic needs. The organization made arrangements for their rehabilitation by making them access to clothing; nutritious food, health, and education. The organization started a Residential school for these children. Two teachers, wardens and 2 Cooks have been appointed to look after the children’s day-to-day need.
community Health Activities:-
The organization had appointed a graduate nurse to train women Para medical workers cum birth attendants in the villages. 20 Para medical workers cum birth attendants have been trained in Para medical practice to conduct safe deliverers in the villages. The trained paramedical workers are from villages of the project area. After training, they have been supplied with most needed medicines, first aid kit, and other instruments to conduct safe deliveries. The main activities of the Para medical workers in the villages are as follows:

? Providing first aid treatment to injured, snakebite cases.
? Dispensation of simple medicines for minor ailments.
? To take care of ante-natal, post-natal, peri-natal and neo-natal cases.

formation of women’s association:-
20 literate and articulate women have been selected from twenty villages of the project area. The organization conducted a 20 days orientation training course on rural women’s issues, and various problems they are facing and need for formation of women’s associations for the over all socio-economic development of their families. All the trained women are working as volunteers to constitute 20 women associations in twenty villages of the project area. Regular interaction between women and volunteers is going on in the villages. At present they are formulating the aims and objectives of the women’s associations.
The main focus would be on:
? To formulate 20 women’s associations in 20 villages with clear aims and objectives to be achieved.
? Formation of self-helf groups of women in twenty villages.
? Promotion of credit and thrift management units.
? Promotion of vocational trainings for women to earn at their house holds itself.

i. About the Educational Society.
The Bright Education Society (BES) registered as non-profitable voluntary organization was started in the year 1998 by its founder member cum project director Mr. M.Ezhil Maran at Chickballapur, Chickballapur district, Karnataka state, India.
It’s main objective was to educate the rural poor and organize them for constructive development with the capacity to address every issue in all parameters on their collective approach, with this being the goal the society has ventured in many welfare and development activities for the past 15 years and over the period of years it has been possible to help these rural poor to a certain extent.
Different programs undertaken are as follow:
? Non-formal education in 15 villages.
? Formation of self help groups of women in 20 villages.
? Free residential school for 54 SC and ST children belonging to poorest of poor families.
? Free supply of education material to 250 children belonging to rural poor families.
? Conducting of Health check-up camps in the villages and dispensation of free medicines to needy patients.
? Computer training to rural youth in order to promote self-employment activities or to get jobs.
ii. Experience in development work in general:
? In the field of children’s education, community health promotion activities such as preventive and curative aspects, formation of women’s associations, mother and child care, mobilization of rural poor on issues, training to staff, member of village associations, awareness creation on environment, non-conventional energy, human and natural resource development HIVAIDS, small family norms and protection of child hood rights.
? The organization gained experience in the implementation of various people oriented activities.
iii. Geographical profile:
Chickballapur Taluk of Chickballapur district is situated in an arid region.
The net area sown in the region varies heavily due to erratic and undeterminable rainfall that always varies. This results in the dry land cultivators being unable to predict rains properly and the sown loosing its germination capacity. The temperature in the taluk varies from a maximum of 38 degrees to a minimum 18 degrees Celsius. Since the taluk is approximately elevated meters above mean sea level.
iv. Socio-economic and living conditions:
He economic condition of the rural poor in the taluk is such that they are in a position to support their basic needs of their families; the average income of agriculture labour is Rs. 30-40/- per day. The agriculture labour/poor peasants get employment about 150 to 180 days in a year. In a family of five members, the per capita income of a person per day is Rs. 7.90ps. The very basis for illiteracy ignorance, low scholastic level, malnourishment, low birth weight infant mortality, and high mortality rate of adults of rural poor is this economics.
6. Major characteristics of the project area:
The area is one of the drought prone in the district; the level of ground water is too low and depleting. The forest cover of the area has been destroyed that it could be said that there is no forest.
The main source of income for rural poor is from agriculture and quarry work. The people in the area are so poor that they cannot be considered as consumers. The women are worst sufferers since they have to maintain the household and feed inmates. The people want to get out of the situation but they are short of ideas and resources.
8. Project Beneficiaries:
The project beneficiaries one comprising of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and economically weaker sections of the society.
9. Project goals:
The overall goals of the project is to develop human and natural resources, safeguard childhood rights, promote women’s participation in decision making regarding self-employment, reproductive health and rights and to promote skills and knowledge through community organization at grass-roots.

Awareness programs:-
a. Human and Natural Resources Development and management:-
The organization had taken necessary education measures to protect natural resources, Which are diminishing at an alarming rate.
The rural economic such as denudation of forests cover. Extinction of flora, fauna and bio-mass, depletion of ground water, top soil erosion, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, encroachment into grazing lands, and exploitation of sand deposits in the rivers. The above situation has severely hampered agro-economy and allied activities resulting in frequent drought condition. The majority population in rural areas depends on agricultures and allied activities. Now the farmers and rural labor families are facing unemployment. Resulting in insecurity.
Bearing in mind the above crisis, the organization has taken steps to create greater awareness among the rural inhabitants to protect and develop their natural resources by taking remedial measures such as rain water conservation in the dried up wells, diversion of rain water to desilted farm ponds, plugging of gullies to control top soil erosion by putting contour bounding all across the slopes.
a. HIV/AIDS Awareness program:-
It has come to light that some people have been suffering from genital infections and other symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. When ever the staff nurses visits the villages the paramedical workers have been reporting to the nurse that some patients are suffering from suspected symptoms STDs.
The patients suspected of having infection of STDs. Have been sent to hospital laboratories to get their blood tested. The reports revealed that 56 patients, and skin diseases.
It has been suspected that some of vulnerable section in the villages may be having HIV/AIDS and SIT infection. The patients with symptoms of STDs would not reveal their sickness bearing ostracization from the members of their family and village community. The patients with STD infection have been supported with medical expenses to get complete cure.
The organization, keeping in the view prevalent situation of vulnerability to STDs and HIV/AIDS, planned to organize STD, HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages. The para medical workers have been trained in HIV/AIDS awareness to educate the rural population with regard to spread of HIV?AIDS epidemic through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, use of sterilized needles, blades etc., the para medical workers along with the staff nurse have had organized 20 HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages in order to educate the people not to have sex with strangers, to avoid unsafe sex and to use condoms and to take preventive measures to control and combat the further spread of HIV/AIDS epidemic.
b. Awareness Camps on water and Air borne diseases:
Polluted environmental sanitation and unhygienic surroundings of sources of drinking water bore wells in the villages are causing health hazards among the people. 15 to 28% percent of each villages population would suffer from water borne infections such as hepatitis-A, typhoid, diarrhea, respiratory tract infection and other skin diseases.
Series of meeting have been conducted in the village to educate the people to get rid of water borne infections. After long course of interaction with the people, under the leadership of community of leaders, volunteers took up the responsibility to cleanse the heaps of decomposing garbage, repair of drinking water bore well plot forms, and diversion of stagnated water to drainage. The villagers unanimously resolved to keep clean their surroundings of households and protect drinking water from contamination.
c. Environment Awareness Programs:-
Environment awareness program had taken place when the water and air borne diseases were tackled in the project area. It was decided that each family should raise at least two trees in front of their households and raise kitchen garden by reusing the wastewater disposed out of households. Avenue tree plantation program was initiated during rainy season of July 2004. The villagers planted 2678 plants on either side of approach roads leading to the main roads.

It is a network organization of 27 NGO’s functioning in five districts in Karnataka. All the NGO heads of 27 NGOs are the general body of Khadam. They elect five member governing body for the smooth running of network organization. Every three year the office bearers of the governing body members are keep on changing in order to enable to grow leadership qualities among all the members.
Khadam members meet once a year to plan strategies and programmes for empowerment of dalits in their area.
5. VWF-(Vidivelli women federations)
It is a network of 120 dalit women grass root organization functioning in karnataka district. It is governed by 22 members who are democratically elected by the members of the individual by organizations. They meet once in a quarter to discuss and plan their programmes. Some of the noteworthy efforts taken by vidvelli working women federations are as follows. On the demand of vidivelli working women federations women are admitted as members in parents teachers association in the rural schools. Road blocked strike. Dharma. Agitation rally etc. were planned and executed by the vidivelli working women federations for obtaining house titles from railway department and obtaining place for construction of school in villages.
6. MEE-India. (Movement of Eunchs empowerment india)
In 2000 Bright Educational and social services society. Started this movement. The eunuchs are scattered all over india. In order to enable them fight against injustices. Inequalities. Segregations etc.. meted out by the rest of the society. MEE India was formed for eunuchs. The nation wide higher-level committee is a general body in which 15 eunuchs from all over india are the members.

The project officer of bright education and social services society, is one of the core resource persons in gender sensitization program implemented to the police personnel in Karnataka districts. The general of police of Karnataka, for his outstanding contributions.

The organization is working in the area for the past 15 years. The region is reeling under severe drought condition for the past six years hampering agro-economy and allied activities. • The principal objective of the programme is to promote open and democratic societies founded on the rule of law and based on a stable political and economic development. In order to learn from the experiences of the Neighbourhood Programme, it has been decided to carry out an independent evaluation. While activities within the programme fall within four different focus areas, the objective of this evaluation is to assess and document the relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the support given within the specific area of ‘Economic Development’, both at the level of the priority area as a whole and the individual projects.
• The evaluation is a learning-focused evaluation, which will serve as an input into the ongoing discussions within the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on how best to promote private sector driven economic growth and employment. It should therefore distil key lessons learned regarding the strategies, approaches and methods used in the Neighborhood Programme.
• Encourage learners to develop healthy self-esteem including a respectful appreciation of their own and others’ individual, ethnic and cultural identity
• Advance educational approaches and facilitate access to enhanced literacy for all age groups Disseminate successful program models, and promote innovation in a specific area of learning
• Contribute to the professional growth of educators and the advancement of innovative approaches to learning
• Demonstrate collaborative planning, competent financial management and appropriate use of community resources
Environment
Commencement of evening classes:-
The organization after studying literate rate in the villages, had taken steps to improve literacy rate in the project area. The literacy rate is far below the state average in the area due to socio-economic reasons.
Free Residential school:-
The socio-Economic survey revealed that 55 children in the age group of 6-12 could not attend the government school, as their families economic status is very vulnerable and could not support their children’s day-to-day basic needs. The organization made arrangements for their rehabilitation by making them access to clothing; nutritious food, health, and education. The organization started a Residential school for these children. Two teachers, wardens and 2 Cooks have been appointed to look after the children’s day-to-day need.
community Health Activities:-
The organization had appointed a graduate nurse to train women Para medical workers cum birth attendants in the villages. 20 Para medical workers cum birth attendants have been trained in Para medical practice to conduct safe deliverers in the villages. The trained paramedical workers are from villages of the project area. After training, they have been supplied with most needed medicines, first aid kit, and other instruments to conduct safe deliveries. The main activities of the Para medical workers in the villages are as follows:
? Conducting safe deliveries.
? Providing first aid treatment to injured, snakebite cases.
? Dispensation of simple medicines for minor ailments.
? To take care of ante-natal, post-natal, peri-natal and neo-natal cases.
? Ensuring of immunization of children
? Creation of awareness with regard to personal hygiene, nutrition, oral Rehydration therapy (ORT)
The staff nurse visits the village to supervise over the activities of village level paramedical workers on regular intervals.
formation of women’s association:-
20 literate and articulate women have been selected from twenty villages of the project area. The organization conducted a 20 days orientation training course on rural women’s issues, and various problems they are facing and need for formation of women’s associations for the over all socio-economic development of their families. All the trained women are working as volunteers to constitute 20 women associations in twenty villages of the project area. Regular interaction between women and volunteers is going on in the villages. At present they are formulating the aims and objectives of the women’s associations.
The main focus would be on:
? To formulate 20 women’s associations in 20 villages with clear aims and objectives to be achieved.
? Formation of self-helf groups of women in twenty villages.
? Promotion of credit and thrift management units.
? Promotion of vocational trainings for women to earn at their house holds itself.
? Development and management of natural resources for sustainable agricultural production and allied activities.
? Formation of village level health clubs to prevent communicable diseases and epidemics.
? Protection of childhood rights and eradication of gender disparities and discrimination.
Promotion of women’s partnership and participation in decision making planning and implementation of developmental activities.
Area of Interest: Aboriginal Education
• Priority will be given to proposals that show innovation, a questioning of the status quo, capacity to transform Aboriginal education, and are targeted to expanding the number, knowledge and skill of Aboriginal educators.
• It is expected that the initiatives will integrate Aboriginal knowledge systems; ensure meaningful involvement and decision-making of Aboriginal community, Elders, parents, educators and learners; and build capacity through collaboration, connection and partnerships that are sustainable.
• Educational organizations with a demonstrated commitment and capacity for success in Aboriginal education, particularly in communities or regions with high numbers of Aboriginal students, will be given particular consideration.
5. Experience:
i. About the Educational Society.
The Bright Education Society (BES) registered as non-profitable voluntary organization was started in the year 1998 by its founder member cum project director Mr. M.Ezhil Maran at Chickballapur, Chickballapur district, Karnataka state, India.
It’s main objective was to educate the rural poor and organize them for constructive development with the capacity to address every issue in all parameters on their collective approach, with this being the goal the society has ventured in many welfare and development activities for the past 15 years and over the period of years it has been possible to help these rural poor to a certain extent.
Different programs undertaken are as follow:
? Non-formal education in 15 villages.
? Formation of self help groups of women in 20 villages.
? Free residential school for 54 SC and ST children belonging to poorest of poor families.
? Free supply of education material to 250 children belonging to rural poor families.
? Conducting of Health check-up camps in the villages and dispensation of free medicines to needy patients.
? Computer training to rural youth in order to promote self-employment activities or to get jobs.
ii. Experience in development work in general:
? In the field of children’s education, community health promotion activities such as preventive and curative aspects, formation of women’s associations, mother and child care, mobilization of rural poor on issues, training to staff, member of village associations, awareness creation on environment, non-conventional energy, human and natural resource development HIVAIDS, small family norms and protection of child hood rights.
? The organization gained experience in the implementation of various people oriented activities.
iii. Geographical profile:
Chickballapur Taluk of Chickballapur district is situated in an arid region.
The net area sown in the region varies heavily due to erratic and undeterminable rainfall that always varies. This results in the dry land cultivators being unable to predict rains properly and the sown loosing its germination capacity. The temperature in the taluk varies from a maximum of 38 degrees to a minimum 18 degrees Celsius. Since the taluk is approximately elevated meters above mean sea level.
iv. Socio-economic and living conditions:
He economic condition of the rural poor in the taluk is such that they are in a position to support their basic needs of their families; the average income of agriculture labour is Rs. 30-40/- per day. The agriculture labour/poor peasants get employment about 150 to 180 days in a year. In a family of five members, the per capita income of a person per day is Rs. 7.90ps. The very basis for illiteracy ignorance, low scholastic level, malnourishment, low birth weight infant mortality, and high mortality rate of adults of rural poor is this economics.
6. Major characteristics of the project area:
The area is one of the drought prone in the district; the level of ground water is too low and depleting. The forest cover of the area has been destroyed that it could be said that there is no forest.
The main source of income for rural poor is from agriculture and quarry work. The people in the area are so poor that they cannot be considered as consumers. The women are worst sufferers since they have to maintain the household and feed inmates. The people want to get out of the situation but they are short of ideas and resources.
8. Project Beneficiaries:
The project beneficiaries one comprising of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and economically weaker sections of the society.
9. Project goals:
The overall goals of the project is to develop human and natural resources, safeguard childhood rights, promote women’s participation in decision making regarding self-employment, reproductive health and rights and to promote skills and knowledge through community organization at grass-roots.

Awareness programs:-
a. Human and Natural Resources Development and management:-
The organization had taken necessary education measures to protect natural resources, Which are diminishing at an alarming rate.
The rural economic such as denudation of forests cover. Extinction of flora, fauna and bio-mass, depletion of ground water, top soil erosion, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, breaching and siltation of traditional water harvesting structures, encroachment into grazing lands, and exploitation of sand deposits in the rivers. The above situation has severely hampered agro-economy and allied activities resulting in frequent drought condition. The majority population in rural areas depends on agricultures and allied activities. Now the farmers and rural labor families are facing unemployment. Resulting in insecurity.
Bearing in mind the above crisis, the organization has taken steps to create greater awareness among the rural inhabitants to protect and develop their natural resources by taking remedial measures such as rain water conservation in the dried up wells, diversion of rain water to desilted farm ponds, plugging of gullies to control top soil erosion by putting contour bounding all across the slopes.
a. HIV/AIDS Awareness program:-
It has come to light that some people have been suffering from genital infections and other symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases. When ever the staff nurses visits the villages the paramedical workers have been reporting to the nurse that some patients are suffering from suspected symptoms STDs.
The patients suspected of having infection of STDs. Have been sent to hospital laboratories to get their blood tested. The reports revealed that 56 patients, and skin diseases.
It has been suspected that some of vulnerable section in the villages may be having HIV/AIDS and SIT infection. The patients with symptoms of STDs would not reveal their sickness bearing ostracization from the members of their family and village community. The patients with STD infection have been supported with medical expenses to get complete cure.
The organization, keeping in the view prevalent situation of vulnerability to STDs and HIV/AIDS, planned to organize STD, HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages. The para medical workers have been trained in HIV/AIDS awareness to educate the rural population with regard to spread of HIV?AIDS epidemic through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, use of sterilized needles, blades etc., the para medical workers along with the staff nurse have had organized 20 HIV/AIDS awareness camps in the villages in order to educate the people not to have sex with strangers, to avoid unsafe sex and to use condoms and to take preventive measures to control and combat the further spread of HIV/AIDS epidemic.
b. Awareness Camps on water and Air borne diseases:
Polluted environmental sanitation and unhygienic surroundings of sources of drinking water bore wells in the villages are causing health hazards among the people. 15 to 28% percent of each villages population would suffer from water borne infections such as hepatitis-A, typhoid, diarrhea, respiratory tract infection and other skin diseases.
Series of meeting have been conducted in the village to educate the people to get rid of water borne infections. After long course of interaction with the people, under the leadership of community of leaders, volunteers took up the responsibility to cleanse the heaps of decomposing garbage, repair of drinking water bore well plot forms, and diversion of stagnated water to drainage. The villagers unanimously resolved to keep clean their surroundings of households and protect drinking water from contamination.
c. Environment Awareness Programs:-
Environment awareness program had taken place when the water and air borne diseases were tackled in the project area. It was decided that each family should raise at least two trees in front of their households and raise kitchen garden by reusing the wastewater disposed out of households. Avenue tree plantation program was initiated during rainy season of July 2004. The villagers planted 2678 plants on either side of approach roads leading to the main roads.
Organization planed to implement these programme in a action through the financial support.

Intergrated development program through adoption of the 5 hamlets in chickballapur taluk, chickballapur District, Karnataka.
BRIGHT EDUCATIONAL SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY has been functioning altogether empowerment of depressed and disadvantaged group of communities in Karnataka, it has a separate legal entity.
We are undertaking the following services and it is detailed below:
1. FACE INDIA-Federation of Association for Community Empowerment India.
It is a NGO’s network for strengthening the civil societies in india. This national civil society has been functioning for 3 years having its head office at Bright Education and social services society.
2. DEVA-A home for orphan & semi-orphan children.
Selecting the orphan children. Collecting the street children. Providing them food and shelter. Formation of children club in school. Providing them educational facilities. Sending children to regular schools.

The minorities community of india to day is facing innumerable difficulties.
4. Khadam-(Karnataka Association for dalit Action Movement)
It is a network organization of 27 NGO’s functioning in five districts in Karnataka. All the NGO heads of 27 NGOs are the general body of Khadam. They elect five member governing body for the smooth running of network organization. Every three year the office bearers of the governing body members are keep on changing in order to enable to grow leadership qualities among all the members.
Khadam members meet once a year to plan strategies and programmes for empowerment of dalits in their area.
5. VWF-(Vidivelli women federations)
It is a network of 120 dalit women grass root organization functioning in karnataka district. It is governed by 22 members who are democratically elected by the members of the individual by organizations. They meet once in a quarter to discuss and plan their programmes. Some of the noteworthy efforts taken by vidvelli working women federations are as follows. On the demand of vidivelli working women federations women are admitted as members in parents teachers association in the rural schools. Road blocked strike. Dharma. Agitation rally etc. were planned and executed by the vidivelli working women federations for obtaining house titles from railway department and obtaining place for construction of school in villages.
6. MEE-India. (Movement of Eunchs empowerment india)
In 2000 Bright Educational and social services society. Started this movement. The eunuchs are scattered all over india. In order to enable them fight against injustices. Inequalities. Segregations etc.. meted out by the rest of the society. MEE India was formed for eunuchs. The nation wide higher-level committee is a general body in which 15 eunuchs from all over india are the members.
The general body members meet once in a year. Apart from this state and district level bodies once in a quarter at their levels to/strengthen their solidarity and to plan activities.
7. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT SECTOR (Videville Women Fund)
Some of the important activities of Econiomic Empowerment Sector are as follows:
Savings and Credit scheme.
Loan for small businesses.
Entrepreneurship development.
Cooperative Economic ventures.
Skills oriented training programme.
Help and educate the people to elevate proverty.
Help the women to stand on their own legs.
Help them to increase their social status in the society.

8. HMS-Health and Medical Centre.
Selection of right type of candidate for foot doctors.
Training the rural people to become bare foot doctors.
Providing medical services to the people in the remote villages.
Conducting medical camps.
Referring the patients to Government head quarters hospital/Health education to school students rural mass and general public. Education on TB, Malaria are included so they can prevent them to the people.
HIV/AIDS awareness education, care and support to the people.
9. PFCC-Family Counseling Centre.
• Identifying prisoners family and counseling for prisoner.
• Counseling wife and children of prisoner.
• Economic assistance for the children to continue education.
• Skills development training for the wives.
• Legal support to their family.
• Enable them to bring out from the anti social evils.
• Help the people to get mass media support.
• Help them to increase their social status in the society.
10. Welfare for the Destitute.
As a development organization mainly undertakes programs of welfare for the helpless and the destitute. Considering the reality of pathetic life struggles, BESSS has undertaken the following welfare and charitable works.
11. Gender Equality Programmes.
The project officer of bright education and social services society, is one of the core resource persons in gender sensitization program implemented to the police personnel in Karnataka districts. The general of police of Karnataka, for his outstanding contributions.
The project coordinator has contributed much in gender sensitization program to the police personnel in Karnataka district. He has taken 60 classes of 1 hour in 30 batches. He has so far conducted 90 cases of 90 hours for 30 batches of training consistent of an average of 50 personnel each.
• BES Conducts one day intensive training program on gender equality to women council representatives in BES Training center. So for, 80 women council representatives have participated in the program.
• BES conducts training for elected dalit leaders of local bodies in BES training centers in various units. So for, 1250 leaders of both gender have participated in the program.
• BES conducts regular gender training to NGO leaders in the BES training center. Totally 28 NGO leaders have participated in the program.
• BES conducts regular training programs to NGO field staff in the BES training center. So for, 50 staff of 28 NGOs were trained.

We have been educated 40 poorchildren and also providing meals for them. We also providing a home for poor old people and see that meals, shelter and medical fecilities are extended to them. We are doing all these services freely.
Even though we have been co-operated by local donor’s support it is quiet insufficient for our programmes. We had no any kind support financially from outside hitherto . we did not ask for financial support anybody upto now, even though we are facing many problems.
Now we are in need of financial support, for providing meals, shelter, medical fecilities to poor old-aged people compulsorily. Without any financial support we are not in a position to go forward with these programmes of social service.
