Genesis
In the year 2005, a group of enthusiastic and experienced development workers endeavored to organize themselves under the umbrella of CGPVS in the district of Surguja in Chhattisgarh. The organization had been registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1973 in the month of July 2005. Since then, CGPVS has been striving for integrated development of the most disadvantaged section of the rural tribal community in the region.
Vision
To establish a peaceful, happy and sustainable society where there is a sense of respect, service, love and participation; where there is opportunity for equality – social, economic and gender and sense of eco-friendly living.
Mission
• To empower youth and women support technical support for their livelihood.
• To bring household food security by promoting land and water management, forest protection and traditional, sustainable agriculture.
• To promote all round development of children, with special focus on girl child.
• To empower women, so that they can safeguard their basic rights.
• To empower the community to use its basic rights i.e. land, water, forests and protect tribal self-governance and traditional livelihood system.
Value
The core values of CGPVS consist of utmost commitment and responsibility without any discrimination of religion, caste, creed and gender for the sake of promotion of interests of the poorest of the poor, living in harmony with the nature.
Objectives
• To promote vocational training for livelihood system.
• To promote grass-root level people’s organizations for developmental activities.
• To promote income generation activities through promotion of appropriate rural technology, social forestry and forest product based crafts and industries.
• To promote savings activity among the community.
• To promote social justice for weaker section of the society through awareness generation and legal aid.
• To build relationship with Government and non-Government agencies, engaged in the process of rural development.
Strategy
Promote self-help attitude in project community and ensure their active participation and involvement in each activity of development and advocacy and lobbying for protection of their fundamental rights and their proper livelihood.
Social Audit & Transparency
The processes and practices adopted by CGPVS Ambikapur demonstrate transparency and accountability. The partner community is involved in conceptualization, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities.
Operational Area & Target Population
CGPVS has been working in Intensively Surguja and extensively working in all chhtisgarh. 0891 Families are covered under the development programmes. It is mainly concerned for the development of Paharia Korwa and Pando PTG tribes and of Dalits. Despite being rich in natural resources, the region is socially and economically backward due to mass ignorance. Most of the population depends on cultivation and forest products for their livelihood. Natural disasters and hilly terrain made the life of the villagers more difficult.
Organizational Resources
C.G. Prachar Evam Vikas Sansthan (CGPVS) has a very good team of eleven full time dedicated and trained social workers that is guided by a seven member Executive Committee, headed by the Director/Honorary Secretary and forty-seven part time village level social workers. The association also has a cadre of local and tribal volunteers.
CGPVS has its registered office at Ambikapur in Surguja district, equipped with all modern office amenities. It has separate MIS, accounts and administrative wings for extending proper support to the development project activities. For proper communication at the field level, the organization has a fleet of cycles and motorcycles. All these resources help CGPVS in its endeavor to achieve its developmental goal effectively.
Areas of Intervention
Gram Sabha and Micro Level Plan
CGPVS believes that the very existence of human beings depend on self-planning, action and struggle. Thus, each Gram Sabha must prepare their developmental roadmap through promotion of Micro Level Plan, which means bottom-up approach of planning. CGPVS promote and advocate Micro Level Plan in each village.
Household Food Security
For promotion of household food security round the year for all, the practice of proper management of natural resources, sustainable agriculture, varietal seed cultivation and multi-cropping is being adopted.
Natural Resource Management
The task of proper management of natural resources has been undertaken for preservation and improvement of bio-diversity through forest protection, social / agro forestry, waste land development and protection of wet lands, natural springs, rivulets and rivers.
Sustainable Agriculture
For promoting sustainable agriculture, various activities has been undertaken as generation of agriculture loan fund, promotion of various bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, community grain storages, seed banks, creation of irrigation tanks and wells, construction of micro lift-irrigation units, equipped with diesel pump set and paddle pumps, establishment of farmers information-cum-demonstration center and introduction of multi-cropping system. Promotion of food security through preservation of indigenous seeds and promotion of participatory varietal seed selection also are on progress.
Livelihood Promotion
For development and promotion of sustainable livelihood, introduction of sustainable agricultural practices, multi-cropping, system of revolving fund at village level and income generation programme from non-timber forest products is being done.
Women Empowerment
At the village level, CGPVS is being endeavored to empower the women and address the issues concerning them who counts for half of the population. One Hundred Ten Men’s & Women’s SHGs have been promoted. These SHGs are active for promoting alternative credit system, awareness generation and capacity building. A federal structure of these SHGs up to the district level has also been formed.
People’s Organization
At village, panchayat, block and district level, Gram Sabha (Villagers Groups) have been formed by the people, both men and women of the villages, who are involved in conceptualization, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of different development projects.
Advocacy
CGPVS took up several basic rights and social issues, like right to food and employment, right to relief and rehabilitation, right to health, tribal right to protect and use forest for their livelihood supplement, tribal land right for women, eradication of child labour and bonded labour and land alienation. In this process, Gram Sabhas are also taking active part.
Education
To eradicate illiteracy among the women and children and non-formal education centers are being run by CGPVS and it remains most helpful in mainstreaming the school dropout children. Awareness generation camps are being regularly organized to create desirable atmosphere for mass education.
CGPVS treat education as the key for eradication of child labors and bonded child labor and help to the government in continue education programs.
Vocational Training:-
Basically for eradication to unemploymecy we do various type of technical training like: – Mobile repairing, Motor Binding, Electrical equipment repairing, T.V.C.D. Video, Mushroom training mobile training etc.
Health
CGPVS endeavored to change the behavioral pattern of the rural people towards cleanliness through health camps and campaigns. Construction and renovation of drinking water wells, promotion of kitchen garden and generation of awareness regarding proper sanitation have also been undertaken by the association.
Training and pear group learning camps are being organized for Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs), Community health volunteers (CHVs) and Village livestock worker (VLSs), STLs
Working on Tuber colossi project by governed by RNTCP 6 SCC and 10 Block covered through ACSM scheme. Along with this HIVAIDS Awareness campaign and testing campaign also we conduct every year in Surguja.
Looking Forward
People in CGPVS are happy with the achievements during the past year, but are not satisfied. To achieve the ultimate goal of transferring the present society into a peaceful, happy and sustainable society based on social, gender and economic equality.

Results
* 7000 house hold and 500 self employed person, 554 S.H.G. Was surveyed by C.G.P.V.S.
? 111 SHG & 1 federation formed.
? Almost 1200 Auto Rickshaw & Rickshaw Puller made HIV test.
? 500 Village & nodal label animator trained in continue education Program.
* Almost 1000 people aware by CGPVS through stand up speak out program.
* 31 youth had been got job & 90 youth got training through our vocational training (mobile training)
* Voter awareness campaign done by CGPVS and almost 5000 villager voters of surguga
Aware by us
* During our tuberculosis program granted by RNTCP 1642 person aware and
240 tested their sputum under sputum collection scheme, 10 were new founded patients of tuberculosis. 6 were completely treated by us under Treatment Adherence scheme.
* Social Audit & NREGA based awareness program always being held with the collaboration of Jila Panchayat- Ambikapur. Till now more then 12000 villagers has been covered by
CGPVS.
