I. Genesis of Organization….
Social Education Economical Development Society (SEEDS) is a non-profit society promoted by Mr. S.D. Pandian, a Sarvodaya Worker who had associated himself with Sarvodaya Movement of Achyarya Vinoba Bhave for nearly a decade. It is to be noted that both his father and grandfather were also Sarvodaya Workers and played active roles in the Sarvodaya Movement. With his rich experience in the Gandhian ideals and principles, he initiated development activities with the help of like-minded individuals in the surroundings of Aruppukottai, Tiruchuli and Karaiyapatti Blocks. This initiative of Mr. Pandian gave legal birth of a society under the name and style, “Social Education Economical Development Society” (SEEDS) in the year 1995 under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act of 1975.
The mandate of the organization is to enable marginalized and disadvantaged rural women to achieve their socio-economic development through a process of organization and participation, and promoting child centred development. In pursuant to this end, SEEDS has been reaching out to more than 10,000 families in hundreds of villages in Virudhunagar District, Tamilnadu through implementation of different programmes supported by Local NGOs, Government and Foreign Funding Agencies.

“SEEDS envisages a society, where poor and marginalized women are socially, economically developed; and the children enjoy their childhood.”
IV. Mission ….
“Enabling the less privileged, the deprived, the oppressed the marginalized and the disadvantaged rural women, children, and youth to achieve their Socio-economic development through a process of organization and participation.”
V. Objectives….
• To make development schemes for socially backward people in the village.
• Formation of Rural Youth and women welfare Society and Co-operative society to create cooperation among the village people.
• To make the people to participate in our country’s welfare.
• To create the way for self – based schemes for village people.
• Formation of Health Education centre in rural areas to give health Education.
• To develop village industry and main cottage industries.
• To avail loan from Government and Quasi Government corporate bodies and distribute the loan to the beneficiaries to improve their economic social and cultural status, recover the loan for them and repay to the concerned bodies.
• To motivate and create consumer awareness and rights through seminars, workshops, campaigns, advocacy etc. and create consumer forums and consumer guidance bureau, among the rural women, small farmers, marginal farmers, students, youth and children.
